Painting Process

Setting up the palette My palette is taken verbatim from the layout of Daniel Greene, the world famous portrait artist. In college I painted all of my paintings with a very limited palette that was basically red, blue, yellow, and white. This gave me the skills to mix pretty much any color I needed. Over the years I have increased the palette to give me a consistent set of tools to give me the desired result. Dan’s palette was designed for human portrait painting, but it gives me an infinite number of combinations as any situation my dictate.
