| The First Layer Notice that while detail is a highly important point at this stage, I am still giving myself something to build on. I would say that my first layer is probably about what I might have done in two layers a few years ago. I also go close to what my final color will be with slight color modifications in the final layers. In the past I would have painted in complimentary colors in the first layers to create depth in the painting. |  |
